Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development
The CIDESD (Research Center in Sports Sciences, Health Sciences and Human Development) is a cross-institutional technical and scientifically multi-disciplinary unity of applied research organized as a consortium agreement of 10 institutions, and amongst them the Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo. CIDESD has 133 members of which 73 are integrated and 60 are associated members. At the present, the Unit consists of three research communities: CreativeLab, GERON and STRONG, and is affiliated to the European College of Sports Sciences
The CIDESD is a large national and international network. Nowadays, it has bilateral agreements with ten national institutions (from the consortium) and another eight High-Education Institutions (cooperation agreement), 32 european institutions and with many universities in Brazil in addition to being members of networks with contacts to academic institutions in North-America, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.
After the evaluation by FCT, CIDESD was rated with 21.75 of 25 points and classified as a Very Good R&D Unit.
